MIAMI ? Forecasters say Tropical Storm Calvin is weakening rapidly as it moves farther into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico.
Calvin became the third named hurricane of the Eastern Pacific season on Friday, but its maximum sustained winds dropped well below hurricane strength to 60 mph (96 kph) at 8 a.m. Pacific on Saturday.
The storm’s center was located about 410 miles (660 kilometers) south-southwest from the southern tip of the Baja peninsula.
Forecasters at the U.S. Hurricane Center in Miami expect Calvin to dissipate in the next two days.
